The last time I shot the band letlive they were supporting Enter Shikari  and rapidly gathering a reputation as one of the most exciting live bands around. So when the they were announced for this tour I couldn’t wait for a second crack of the whip.

Deftones are a band I have always wanted to photograph and they were throughly enjoyable.

Opening tonight is a little unknown women by the name of Valerie June who hails from Memphis Tenneessee. Her blend of folk blues is deeply rooted in where she is from. Although her music is sort of lost on the crowd and the sheer size of the venue seems to swallow her music she is someone I would definitely like to see and photograph again.

Jake Bugg is an artist on a massive rise at the moment so when the opportunity came along to photograph him it was something I couldn’t pass on. So despite being Valentine’s Day I made the journey to photograph Mr Bugg. Despite being only a young lad himself he could easily pass as an early Bob Dylan with the swagger a Gallagher. I was slightly disappointed with his stage presence, barely moving away from his microphone for a minute at a time making it difficult for any variation in my photos.

Overall this was an incredibly hard gig to shoot especially considering it had been a while since the last one.

So this was my first gig in 4 months and my first shoot of 2013. The gig was shot for Gig Junkies and you can see the photos accompanying a review over at their website.

The opening band, Proxies were a band I had never heard of before but they seemed to enjoy opening the proceedings. Posing for the photographers at the front which is always a good thing.

Local band Sonic Boom Six have been around the block a bit supporting many bands and are someone I have been aware of for quite a while. They were the most fun to shoot and luckily probably had the best lighting conditions out of the the three bands too.

Welsh rockers The Blackout are renowned for their good stage presence and hardcore fanbase. The fact they have two frontmen gave me a lot of different options. They certainly aren’t a band that will just stand still and just play with the band bouncing from side to side giving me plenty to think about.

Overall this was an incredibly hard gig to shoot especially considering it had been a while since the last one.

This was my first gig in over two months and I had managed to sandwich it in-between a busy schedule. Tonight was my third time shooting both Your Demise and Young Guns having also previously shot them both at the Drop Dead gig during Tramlines.

I had arrived just a little too late to photograph the opening band Marmozets but from what I heard I wasn’t greatly into them and weren’t really my thing.

Up next to my surprise were Your Demise as I considered them to be the main support act. Having previously shot them twice before, once supporting Enter Shikari and also Young Guns earlier in the year i knew exactly what to expect. Ed McRae is up there with Jason Butler (letlive) on being one of the hardest frontmen I have ever photographed. He is constantly moving about and nearly always has a microphone in his face.

I must admit I had never even heard We Are The In Crowd before I went to the gig and I don’t suppose getting them confused with We Are The Ocean did me any favours either. Nevertheless they surprised me and were a lot better than i thought, they were the exact opposite of Your Demise. Lead singer Tay Jardine and her band mates were a lot more photogenic and with a little bit of improvement with the lighting i managed to grab a couple of shots of the band.

Young Guns have recently turned into quite a guilty pleasure of mine, ‘Bones’ is such an awesome album and having seen the band perform three times they are getting better live everytime. Tonight is their biggest headline show yet and the crowd were in full voice to make it even more memorable.

This was my 3rd time photographing this festival and it was definitely the most enjoyable one. Some of the highlights across the weekend were Young Guns, Your Demise, Rolo Tomassi and Clock Opera.
